Justin's Canned Response:
Light Condensation
Condensation/lens moisture is a natural condition that can affect any light. As the light heats up, certain components release moisture into the air within the light. This moisture then gathers at the coolest point of the light, mainly the lens. Hogworkz LED lights are designed to allow moisture to exit through the breathing pads on the back of the light; however it takes time for the moisture to evaporate and escape. Condensation will not affect the normal operation of the light and in most cases it will evaporate.
LED vs HalogenSome riders may notice that condensation is more prevalent in their LED lights when compared to their older halogen light. This is mainly due to the fact that halogen lights run much hotter and therefore the moisture evaporates quickly. LEDs generally run at a much lower temperature, which means the condensation will persist for a longer period of time.
Leakage / Water Ingress
In rare cases, an improperly sealed light will hold moisture and water will begin to pool within the bottom of the light. This should be considered a warrantable defect which affects the operation of the light. In the case of a leak resulting in water ingress, an RMA/Exchange request should be made with the product dealer/reseller.
Additional Notes:
Customers sometimes experience condensation in the LED light. This is actually normal and is NOT a warrantable condition so long as it does not affect the normal operation of the light. Halogen bulbs are much hotter than LED bulbs and evaporate the condensation much quicker. This is why LED condensation is reported more often.
What to do:
Explain above to the customer and if they insist, they can send photos to support@hogworkz.com If the photos show puddles of water buildup at the bottom of the LED lens it may be a replaceable item. But if it is only condensation buildup in the lens, then the above holds true. For more info refer to JW Speaker's article about LED Headlight Condensation below.
