On Road King models (FLHR) often the stock trim ring will not fit perfectly flush with the nacelle. This is usually caused when the installer changes the internal mounting bracket to our adapter. We found that many HD trim rings are missing the two additional clips that go at 2 0'clock and 8 0'clock. The clips are specifically designed to slide in behind the tabs on our adapter.
An alternate solution would be to purchase a Frenched Trim Ring (about $40) which will slide over the stock ring and hides the gap while improving the look of the bike.
